Hi XXXX

You wrote:

Why do you put the writing of the book of Matthew so early? I had always seen it as later than your listing. References?

See When were the Books of the Bible Written on this Web Site.

An honest answer is that I do not remember where I obtained the dates given as I do not find it in my files at this time. However, It could not have been written much later because Matthew was crucified, stoned and beheaded in AD 70. But please note that My article on when the Books of the Bible were written, lists each date as a "Probable time", "A Suggested Time", I don't know that anyone can fix an exact date for these writings.

And my source for this date of Matthew's death is:

The Video number 2 of "The Biblical Heritage Collection" by Jewell E. Smith.

Jewell E. Smith is a Baptist Pastor, Historian, Lecturer, and Author. He owns and operates a Bible Museum in Orlando, Florida.

He may be contacted at P.O. Box 574062, Orlando Florida, 32857-4062

I hope that this may be of help to you.
