STAR

by Elnora Watters

Off in the distance afar
Draped in a robe of white
Topped with a crown of clouds
A mountain reaches to a star

Lights glimmer at its base
Like jewels sparkling in the sun
Tree, like children, with arms high
Waving their limbs with grace

Winding up the mountain side
Roads with dangerous curves
Many pitfalls along the way
Dear Heart, with our Lord we abide

Take his hand, hold it fast
He will guide us safely on
Around the pitfalls and the curves
Together we reach the star at last
